EHS Specialist

About the role

Amazon is hiring a full-time EHS Specialist in Sumner, Washington. The role supports workplace health and safety programs, daily operations and associate wellbeing at the assigned site.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily safety audits, incident investigations and risk assessments, then implement practical controls and corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and continuous-improvement initiatives that reduce injuries while supporting operational efficiency.
• Advise associates and leaders, coach safe work habits and build participation in the site safety culture.
• Use safety information and trends to identify concerns, explain findings and influence operational improvements.
• Support emergency response and maintain effective care delivery during site emergencies.

Required qualifications

• High school completion or equivalent.
• One of these routes: at least one year in an EHS-related field; a bachelor’s degree in a relevant EHS discipline; or six months in an Amazon safety-related role.
• Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, professional Microsoft Word and Excel experience, and experience handling confidential workplace-protection or personnel matters.

Preferred qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a safety-related field.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgement and customer-focus skills.
• Experience leading a team, reviewing accident data and new processes or machinery, and completing job-hazard and job-safety analyses.
• Emergency-response experience, current First Aid and CPR certificates, and workers’ compensation case-management experience.

Working conditions

• Lift up to 49 pounds; frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach; and stand or walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
• Work around variable noise, temperatures and weather, including outside loading areas, and regularly use stairs where present.
• Work flexible shifts that may include days, nights and weekends.
• Anyone without qualifying adult First Aid, CPR and AED certification must obtain it within three weeks of starting.

Pay and benefits

The stated base pay is USD 28.94–33.41 per hour. Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications and location.
