AUSTRALIA — Safe Work Australia has urged workplaces to look beyond immediately visible injuries and examine risks to workers' long-term physical and psychological health. Its 12 October update marks the second week of National Safe Work Month 2026.
Health hazards can develop over time
The update highlights hazardous chemicals, airborne contaminants, repetitive tasks, high job demands and fatigue. It connects the campaign with priorities in the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023–2033, including musculoskeletal conditions, psychological injuries and occupational disease.
