WHS Specialist

Role overview

The WHS Specialist supports workplace safety at the Rocky View County site through data, risk controls and associate coaching.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety programs, daily audits, incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Implement preventive measures and continuous improvements.
• Deliver safety training and coach associates and leaders.
• Use safety data to recommend improvements and strengthen associate wellbeing.

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year in an EHS field, or a bachelor degree in an EHS-relevant discipline, or six months in an Amazon safety role.
• Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
• Professional Microsoft Word and Excel experience and ability to protect confidential personnel information.

Working conditions

Flexible day, night or weekend shifts are required. Work may include lifting up to 49 pounds, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, reaching, standing or walking up to 12 hours, stairs, variable noise, temperatures and weather.

Preferred background

Preferred qualifications include workers compensation case management, a safety-related bachelor degree, strong communication and analytical skills, leadership, accident and machinery analysis, job-hazard analysis, emergency-response experience, and First Aid and CPR status.
