PMC Specialist Technical Safety Engineer

Role overview

Wood is hiring a PMC Specialist Technical Safety Engineer in Abu Dhabi. The specialist provides process-safety, loss-prevention and risk-management expertise across design, construction, commissioning and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie and fire-risk studies.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, safety philosophies and contractor technical deliverables.
• Assess fire protection, gas detection, emergency shutdown and other safety-critical systems.
• Perform consequence modelling, hazardous-area classification and ALARP demonstrations.
• Maintain risk registers, track study actions and support audits, commissioning and handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, process, safety or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Typically 15 or more years in technical safety, process safety or loss prevention within oil and gas or energy projects.
• Experience with recognized risk-modelling tools and international standards including IEC, API, NFPA, ISO and CCPS.
• Professional credentials such as NEBOSH Diploma, CFSE, CSP or CEng are advantageous.
