HYDERABAD, INDIA — A scrap-shop owner suffered serious burn injuries after an explosion and fire during metal-cutting work in Church Colony, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad, on 25 October 2026, local reporting said.
Firefighters attend with two appliances
The Siasat Daily quoted an attending firefighter as saying the emergency report arrived at about 11:15 a.m. and two fire engines were used. The outlet reported that the injured owner was taken to Gandhi Hospital.
Deccan Chronicle quoted a divisional fire officer about the response and reported that four people were evacuated from a neighbouring building. It said police and scene-examination personnel attended. Telangana Today also reported serious injuries and the firefighting response.
Injury details and cause need careful attribution
Reports differed about the percentage of burns and parts of the treatment sequence. HSEBlog is therefore reporting serious burns without presenting a disputed percentage as definitive. Early suggestions about a compressor or other component are not a final finding establishing the cause of the explosion.
The reviewed reports place the incident during metal cutting. That timing alone does not prove a particular ignition mechanism, an operator's negligence or a completed regulatory finding.
HSEBlog context: Scrap processing combines uncertain material contents with cutting and other energy sources. Our guides to hot-work hazards, hazardous waste management and emergency response planning give background without assigning a cause to this incident.
