What are “safe days”?
Many sites track days since the last lost-time injury (LTI) — sometimes called LTI-free days — as a visible lagging milestone. Pair it with leading indicators; a rising streak alone can hide near misses.
Safe days = calendar days between the last incident date and today (or another end date you choose). Progress toward a target = safe days ÷ target × 100.

Safe days · LTI-free streak
Count calendar days since the last incident and optional progress toward a milestone. Pair with leading indicators — streaks alone are not proof of control.
Formula: Safe days = Calendar days since last incident · Progress % = Safe days ÷ Target × 100
- Calendar days by default — state if you count only manned days.
- Do not hide near misses to protect a board display.
- Reset the clock on a true LTI per your classification rules.
Frequently asked questions
Should I count calendar or working days?
Most campaigns use calendar days. Some projects count only manned days — state which rule you use.
What if we redefine LTI?
Keep definition stable. Changing classification mid-campaign breaks comparisons.
Is a long streak proof of safety?
No. Low exposure periods and under-reporting inflate streaks. Use TRIFR, near-miss quality, and audits alongside.
Hours without LTI?
Optional: multiply days by average daily man-hours, or enter hours directly for a man-hour streak.
