Onsite Medical Representative

Role overview

Amazon is hiring an Onsite Medical Representative to support workplace health and safety at its Shakopee operation. The role works with the site WHS manager, WHS specialist and injury-prevention specialist, provides independent first aid, advises associates on occupational and non-occupational injuries or illness, and refers cases to outside providers when required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid, emergency-response support and appropriate outside medical referrals.
• Reduce injury risk through education, awareness, coaching and proactive engagement on the operations floor.
• Maintain care records, daily activity logs, end-of-shift reports, medical supplies and a clean treatment area.
• Coordinate workers compensation and return-to-work activities for work-related injuries.
• Attend safety committee and case-review meetings and support new-hire engagement.
• Maintain first-aid, CPR and AED credentials; help deliver certification training and assist with random saliva drug-testing protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support certification from an approved emergency cardiac care provider.
• Current EMT or paramedic certification through a Department of Health or NREMT, or active Athletic Trainer certification through BOC or an equivalent state body.
• Candidates without adult First Aid, CPR and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain it within three weeks of starting.

Working conditions

The position requires flexible day, night, holiday or weekend shifts; lifting up to 49 pounds; frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending and reaching; standing or walking for up to 12 hours; stairs; variable noise, temperatures and weather.

Preferred background

A safety-related bachelor degree, emergency-response experience, workers compensation case management, leadership, data analysis, job-hazard analysis and strong communication skills are preferred.
